A Whole new world

I am surprised to be sitting here deciding to make my own blog! I have never been much of a writer, I will admit that my spelling can be very, very bad. I was relieved to see that there is spell check attached, I don't know how I ever got by without it!

I have decided that its time to start documenting and sharing some of the wild, wacky, down right crazy projects that I get myself into and find out if there are others out there who share some of the same passions that I do.

I must start by saying that first and foremost I am a wife and mother of six (yes, 6) children. We are a blended family each bringing 3 children to the marriage. Our children range in age from 12 to 28 and we are blessed with 5 girls and 1 boy ( poor thing falls right in the middle). I am also a step grandma to a beautiful little 3 year old angel.

OK, now about me. I began crafting about a year and a half ago to spend time and share a joy with my mother. My mom has always been crafty, as a kid I remember her always cooking, sewing, painting, making stained glass, porcelain dolls, quilts, you name it she did it. I never really took an interest in any of the things she was doing, not sure if it was my age or my insecurities that stopped me from joining her.

In June of 2008 I began spending weekends with my husband at my parents home on the lake, this is how my crafting story begins. My mother has a "studio" as she likes to call it in her 3 car garage, never has it seen a car, and I am sure it never will! Her greatest joy is to head to the studio on a warm summer morning, put up the doors and work on what ever strikes her fancy at the time. I have been there many times before this summer and I would sit and chat with her while she worked on a quilt, beads or painting, but this summer was different. I found a pattern book for a crochet purse that I loved, could I do this? Of course, I can do anything. So I set out to learn to crochet. I don't think I put that hook down all weekend (had a blister to prove it!). When we left on Sunday I had made a purse. I will admit that it was not the purse in the picture, but it was a purse none the less.

Thats where it all began. I will continue to share my passions as time goes on, but for now I must say goodnight.
